All original 273 2bbl A/T Originally I was thinking Q/SA or maybe R/SA if I leave all the A/C onboard, but I'm doubting it would be competitive anymore with all of the later cars with EFI or Turbos... Maybe just a Wed night warrior? Well, first thing is to fix the coolant leak behind the bellhousing and while it's out take this opportunity to "freshen it up" This should keep me occupied while I dream of a C/GD Attachments:

The offending soft plug! Over the years I've put in some screw in brass ones to get by, but even some of those were seeping... Attachments:

Slogging away at the grease yesterday... The machine shop flat out told me the new CA compliant wash probably wouldn't cut it in one dunking, so I'm pre-treating it and scrubbing it down (if I needed a reason to go to Las Vegas, this would be it) Took almost an hour to remove the rear oil galley plugs without destroying them or the block... Now, it can go for a 3 day "bath" Attachments:

Wow, check out the wear on this exhaust valve keeper grooves Talk about lucky not to have dropped this one or the three others that looked as bad... Attachments:

Got the heads & sheet metal back from the machine shop yesterday... So I hit 'em with some purple cleaner & water for a final wash, then a few coats of Duplicolor DE1632 Chrysler Red. Guides are still in pretty good shape, so I'll just lightly touch up the seats this weekend, then reassemble using all new valves, hardened keepers, and springs to finish it off. I really didn't budget for so many top end parts to be bad, but better safe than sorry... Attachments:
