Here is the new project! A 1970 Ford Mustang MACH1 basket case. The Race Shop custom built the roll cage, rear suspension, and tubs. To get the 31x12.50/15 Hoosiers under the rear they widened the rear fenders 1.5". For the front they popped in a Chris Alston Front Chassis. The car originally came with a 351 Cleveland and top loader 4 speed. The Race Shop was going to stuff the old original power plant in the car when the owner ran out of funding and lost interest in the car. She sat for 5 years untouched. I acquired this car from Wisconsin owner with the intent of doing a Resto-Mod by installing the drive train from that totalled '08 Shelby GT500KR that ran at EF on July 31, 2011. Since so many people have said it would be difficult to get the Ford/Shelby ECM to function properly in this MACH1 chassis I have elected to go BBF. Our goal with this car is to beat that 1969 Chevy Nova with the 572 BBC. Attachments:

Here is the BBF that is going into this MACH 1. It is a small Kaase BOSS 9. This is one of the two engines that Jon Kaase Racing submitted to Popular Hot Rodding Magazine for the 2008 Engine Masters Challenge. The Challenge Rules restricted many of the things an engine builder could use and or do. This engine pushed the rules to the max. It is only 436CI with 10.3:1 compression and a solid flat tappet cam. The carb is a Barry Grant 1250cfm Demon and ignition control is handled by an Australlian ICE 10AMP system. Engine testing was performed with pump gas (91 octane) and the test was conducted from 2,500 to 6,500 RPM. The average torque and HP readings from three runs was added together and divided by the displacemnt to determine a power factor per CI. This Kaase BOSS 9 only produced 647 Ft TQ @ 5400 and 746 HP @ 6400 RPM. Although this engine produced the highest HP and torque readings during the challenge it ended up forth on power factor behind two Ford 400Ms (one built by Kaase and the winner of the challenge) and a SBC. We haven't decided on the transmission or the rearend gear. Any suggestions? This project has many hours of labor left to complete her. We are hoping to have this beast in the car and the car running for October's EF event. Attachments:

This project has seen numerous delays. We are finally getting closer to completion! After numerous test fits, changes, and butchering the factory firewall to set the motor back 8" the final resting spot was decided upon. Motor mounts made; mid plate installed; trans tunnel fabricated; halo added to the mid-ship roll bar. Now we have to fabricate a hood and scoop. What a pain this car has become. Hopefully she is a runner when completed!
