I dont think i've ever heard of a flash shield. Can you explain? I main concern is fuel being siphoned off the tops of the carbs at speed. I'm guessing the "FLASH" would refer to fire, hopefully a .....umm......old.....ummm......seasoned veteran can chime in ;D

I'd worry more about FOD picked up by the tires landing in the carbs (ouch) How about some cheap exhaust turndowns shortened as needed (taller in back) and faced into the relative wind? Probably worth 1" of manifold pressure at the top-end ;D

I've been told by many olt timers the Strombergs don't like to have air forced into them due to the neck to ventury design. I dunno but I like the shields anyway

I dunno but I like the shields anyway I'd never heard that, but I read somewhere that removing the choke on the 97's messed with the metering, so maybe there is something to it... We can't make this weekend, send pictures! Have fun!
